Overview

Gallaway Construction is seeking a commercially aware Quantity Surveyor to support the financial and contractual management of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account. This role involves cost control, subcontractor procurement, valuation management, and financial reporting. You will work closely with project teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and client service.

key responsibilites

Support the management of the full commercial lifecycle of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Assist in administering contracts including JCT (various forms), NEC, Design & Build, and client frameworks.
Prepare cost plans, forecasts, and contribute to risk management processes.
Undertake tender analysis, subcontractor procurement, and assist with contract negotiations.
Monitor and control project costs, valuations, and variations to support financial targets.
Contribute to value engineering and cost control initiatives.
Produce accurate and timely commercial reports for senior management.
Support junior team members where appropriate and collaborate effectively with wider project teams.
Ensure compliance with Gallaway’s sustainability goals, quality standards, and SHEQ framework.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.

requirements

Typically 3–7 years’ experience in quantity surveying, with exposure to a range of sectors.
Experience working with traditional and/or Design & Build contracts (JCT, NEC, or similar forms).
Good commercial awareness and understanding of project cost drivers.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Experience supporting both live project delivery and pre-construction activities.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Working towards MRICS or interested in achieving chartered status (desirable but not essential).
