Overview

Gallaway Construction is seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to support our commercial construction projects. This role involves working closely with Site Managers to ensure materials, plant and sundries are procured accurately, competitively, and delivered in line with programme requirements. You will play a key role in supporting project delivery through effective supplier management and cost control.

key responsibilites

Procure materials, plant and sundries for live commercial construction projects.
Work closely with Site Managers to sense-check quantities and specifications prior to ordering.
Obtain and compare supplier quotations to secure best value.
Place and manage purchase orders, ensuring correct delivery times and site locations.
Check invoices against delivery notes and resolve any discrepancies.
Manage supplier relationships and address delivery or supply issues as they arise.

requirements

At least 3 years previous buying or procurement experience within commercial construction.
Strong knowledge of construction materials and site requirements.
Commercially aware with confidence to challenge quantities and pricing.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-driven environment.
Full UK driving licence and own transport.
